Demonstration outside Wirral Council – Monday 14th July
On Monday 14th July we held a demonstration outside of Wallasey Town Hall during the Wirral Borough Council meeting. Residents showed up from across the Wirral to support the campaign for frack free future.
A petition of 1,417 local resident signatures was presented to the council asking for a motion to stop all forms of Unconventional Gas Extraction in the area. At the meeting the notice of motion was referred to the Council’s scrutiny committee.
The event managed to attract some media attention, with reporters from the Liverpool Echo, The Wirral Globe and BBC North West all there to find out about our cause.

Support our motion for a UCG, CBM and Frack Free Wirral

The area granted to Cluff Natural Resources by the Coal Authority for Underground Coal Gasification in the Dee Estuary and covering Hilbre Island
On Monday 14th July, at 6pm, the councillors of Wirral Borough Council are having a meeting where there is a motion on the agenda to address the use of fracking, UCG and CBM in the area.
Please come along and help us show that the public feel strongly about this.
The address is: Wallasey Town Hall, Brighton Street, Wallasey, CH44 8ED and we are meeting at 5.30pm.

Hundreds of concerned residents at our Public Awareness Meeting
On Tuesday 17th June 2014 we held a public awareness meeting to inform the Wirral community about the dangers of Fracking, Underground Coal Gasification and Coal Bed Methane Extraction in the area.
Representatives from Frack Off: The Extreme Energy Action Network were there to show us the growing body of evidence against fracking and extreme energy extraction including the threats to our health, the environment and our wildlife.
Over 200 concerned Wirral residents came to the meeting to discuss and debate.
Merseyside Bands in Fracking Opposition Gig
On Saturday April 19th a number of Merseyside bands got together to help raise awareness of Fracking to our region.
The gig was organised by Wirral band The Sundowners with Zutons guitarist Paul Molloy. It featured sets from the Viper Kings with guests Dave McCabe (Zutons) and James Skelly (Coral), Ian Skelly and the Serpent Power, We Are Catchers, Sundowners (acoustic) Edgar Summertyme and Marvin Powell.
